Day 34: The Standard of Excellence
This Is My Father’s World
Maltbie Babcock, 1858-1901
Franklin Sheppard, 1852-1930
“This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears,
All nature sings and around me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world.
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas—
His hand the wonders wrought.”
“If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil. 4:8 (KJV)
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen.” Romans 1:20 (NIV)
Excellence that rises beyond being merely good, acceptable, average or common is not of flesh and blood. It is modeling the very nature and character of ALMIGHTY GOD.
Creation itself testifies to order and mirrors beauty, power and divine glory,
WORD: When I fix my mind on what is excellent, I am lifting my thoughts above the ordinary and anchoring them in what is eternal. Creation does this without striving—it simply reflects Him.

I have spent much of my life discovering that God is faithful in every season. Through times of joy, loss, uncertainty, and many unexpected mercies, I have found Him to be a constant Friend, Shepherd, and Keeper of my soul.
Images of Hope from Georgia was born from my love of Scripture, treasured hymns, beautiful imagery, and a longing to encourage fellow travelers along the journey Home. These brief devotionals are written to help busy hearts slow down, remember what is true, and lift their eyes toward the Lord.
I share this life with my beloved husband, Bert, whose wisdom, steadfast love, and uncanny knack for usually being right have been among God's kindest gifts to me since he chose me in 1982. We are also faithfully accompanied by Logan, our sable collie, the seventh cherished collie in a long line of loyal companions who have walked beside me through life's changing seasons.
Whether you arrive rejoicing, grieving, searching, weary from invisible battles, or simply longing to know Jesus more deeply, my prayer is that you will find here a quiet place to pause, renew your spirit, and continue the journey Home.
I am honored to walk a little way with you.
